Although together for 6 years, this September I have been married for two years to my wonderful second husband. I was so keen to have a different wedding, and one that spoke to us and of us.
Instead of a standard guest book, that I knew we would never look at ever again, I decided on a visual representation of our family and friends wishes and decided on a quilt.
A wedding quilt guest book!
Another project to the list of growing projects for our wedding. My then fiance busied himself in cutting up the material into squares. He muttered the whole time about how silly it is. I think he rather enjoyed seeing the end product.
It has taken me two years, but I finally and eventually got around to sewing it together. There is still the padding and backing that needs to be attached, however I am rather proud of the outcome. It isn’t 100% perfect, and there will be quilters out there that will be horrified with the seam lines. To me it is an indication of how life is, and especially married life. The lines might be out of alignment, yet the overall is something to be proud of.
Our wedding quilt guest book is exactly what I hoped it would be, a reminder of all those good wishes and feelings towards our union
I am proud of my marriage. We do have our moments where we battle with communication. In fact, I learnt last week that my husband doesn’t eat strawberries. That does put a damper on the strawberry picking I am arranging with my family, thankfully he isn’t allergic. We both work on our marriage, and share, laugh, fight and love one another.
