We travelled to Owls Nest at Inyoni Lodge which we had to be re-scheduled from June to December 2020, due to the national lock down.
We decided to add another night to our get away by staying at Houw Hoek Inn. This was partly to break the drive and partly as a reward for surviving the stressful year. Houw Hoek Inn was a good place to unwind and start to feel the holiday festivities.

We slept well and had an excellent breakfast, where we planned our trip to Inyoni Lodge.
We hit the road and took a meandering route via Greyton. A picturesque town / village that is popular among artists. From there we took a dirt road though to Riviersonderend, where we excitedly stopped to buy some biltong and braai meat from the Biltong Factory. This is a building you cannot miss as it is bright yellow and red. Excellent biltong!
Rejuvenated we followed some more dirt roads to cut through the farm lands to Bredasdorp. Where we stopped again to buy our provisions for the two nights. Then some more dirt road and then we arrived.

The high end furnishings reinforces the romance of Owls Nest. We had originally selected Owls Nest as it had a hot tub but sadly that was not operational during our visit.

The staircase to the second floor is somewhat scary and is not something I recommend doing in a rush. However, the climb is worth it as the bedroom takes up the whole mezzanine floor.

After two nights of country air, we were definitely well rested by the time we left. And continued with our theme of taking the road less travelled as we meandered on home via Elim, Stanford and Caledon.
The best part of this break away, we now have a retirement plan to work towards.
