This year I have gone a bit creative with Valentine’s Day. There is something in the air, and it may have to do with my goals / plans for 2020.
We aren’t typically a romantic couple because we don’t do cards or flowers and this may be a hang up from our respective past relationships. For this reason we try to keep it low key with few expectations.
I do try at times to bring a bit of spice into our romantically lives and I still smile at the though of the discussion we had about DateFactory. This is a service that delivers a date in a box to your door. The horror on my husband’s face at the cost associated with said box was hilarious. I thought for Valentine’s Day, that I would give on of their digital dates a try for fraction of the cost, and only a few headaches with the printing. What I do appreciate is the thought that went into the partner cards and the discussion cards. There will be intimacy on all levels tonight.
There is a longing for a truly romantic day, where I am swept off my feet and whisked away without having to do the planning, which would bring on a bout of anxiety. The problem with over planning or preparing, is there is a level of expectation.
Our / my plans for Valentine’s Day so far:
- Digital date and all the paraphernalia
- Heart shaped candles
- Heart shaped chocolates
- Heart shaped note holders
- Red and white balloons
- Dinner of steak with pepper sauce, made at home.
I always maintain that you don’t need to spend a fortune to be intimate with your partner. It is always the thought that counts, and the effort to put those thoughts into action. The list may look extensive and costly, yet I bought most of the decorations from Pep Home.
On my way home I will be printing the last of the photos to place in our mutli-photo frame, another opportunity to reminisce about the past.
And remember, loving yourself reaps benefit for those in your life!
