My sister and I stayed true to our promise and stayed at Platbos Farm again. We had enjoyed ourselves previously, that we in fact extended our stay by an additional night. This meant we were off the grid for three nights.
It was good to get away from the daily worry of the Covid Pandemic, and to go sit in nature where there was no one to worry about.
Making full use of the public holiday, our visit was earlier in the month of August than the previous year. And this time we were surprised by the winter feel in the air and even had a bit of storm blow over. There was wind and rain, and yet this did not dampen our spirits.
Driving through, I had made the management decision that we would support local. This meant that we would have lunch within Gaansbaai, and why not have it at a crocodile farm.

Afrikanos Crocodile Farm, is off the beaten track. And we did start to question Google and its map. We found it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The meals were fair and well priced. Our waitress was excellent and the tour was even better.
There were five female crocodiles, and were sisters! What we learnt definitely confirmed that you do not want to run into a crocodile out in the wild, for one they can definitely run a lot faster than what you would expect.
Should you want to go swim with the crocodiles, then this is the place to do it. There is a wire mesh fence that separates you and the crocodiles. You can also view the crocodiles swimming through a window into the pond.
All very well thought out, and a definite bucket list item.
Platbos Farm helped rejuvinate our souls that were lagging from the Covid fatigue. My sister also upped her catering skills, and provided a cheese fondue and mulled wine. It was perfect for the weather that we experienced. However, I still managed to put my feet up by the fire and breathe the sweet air.
We will be back in the following year.
